Magnesium makes the muscles relax and calcium makes the muscles contract. When there is excess Calcium in the body (which is the same as a Magnesium Deficiency), it causes the muscles to contract and results in pain and discomfort. In severe deficiency, it can cause muscles to spasm and results in Pain.
Conventional synthetic muscle relaxants like Antispasmodics, NSAID’s and analgesic / pain killers work on the nervous system to reduce the pain (by numbing the sensations) but do not actually relax or heal the muscles. They also have several side effects.
Magnesium can help in the following symptoms of muscle cramps and pain directly by relaxing the muscles:
Cramps, leg cramps, sprain, Muscle pain, Spasm, Restless Leg, Charley horses, Tics & Twitches, eyes twitches, facial tics, Frozen shoulder, non-specific muscle & bone pain, backaches, cervical pain, headaches, tension headaches, migraine, spondylitis, joint pain, slipped disc, spinal and low back pain, leg cramps in pregnancy, involuntary muscle contractions, hamstrings, morning stiffness, calf pain, night cramps, muscle pull, strain, muscle tear, tendonitis, bursitis, muscle knot, swelling, inflammation, muscle fatigue, Tremor, Tetany
All Magnesium is not the same. The old versions like Oxide, Hydroxide, Gluconate, Citrate etc. caused Diarrhea and were used by doctors to relieve constipation. However a new form is available as Magnesium Glycinate that can deliver high enough doses of Magnesium for adequate benefit without causing Diarrhea
KrampGard Magnesium is available in a Chelated form, that is Safe, Fast acting and Highly Absorbable. It does not cause Diarrhea and the Amino Acid Glycine, largely carries it safely into the blood stream. This makes Chelated Magnesium highly bioavailable and it can be delivered in large enough doses to have beneficial effects without causing an upset stomach
It acts in multiple ways to relieve muscle cramps and pain:
Glycine is an amino acid that has numerous Benefits for the entire body. Mentioned below are some related to muscle health
Glycine helps form Collagen and Connective tissue
Glycine helps build lean muscle mass and prevent muscle wasting
Glycine is essential for the synthesis of Creatine
Glycine protects the liver from chemical toxicity
Glycine is a key component of Glutathione, the body’s own super anti-oxidant
Glycine boosts Energy levels and helps in fighting fatigue
excessively slow heart rate
